Ewan Main | Humanist celebrant
About me
Hi. I’m Ewan.
I love being a celebrant – and alongside weddings, partnerships and vow renewals, I sometimes conduct funerals and baby namings. Weddings are my favourite though. 😊
Like many celebrants, I divide my time between this and a few other things: I work part-time with a design agency making things for good causes; I’ve been learning Japanese since I was lucky enough to spend a month there in 2024; and, like all men in their 40s, am recently more and more obsessed with all the musical stuff I wish I had spent the first half of my life playing with. When you speak to me on a Zoom call, my camera is carefully set up so you can’t see that I’m in a room full of synthesisers.
Until recently I spent most of my week working in national charities – specialising most recently in workplace mental health, and before that in supporting carers. Oh, and for 11 years I was a tour guide on a ghost walk… but please don’t let that put you off.
I’m really happy to be part of the Humanist Ceremonies network for training, accreditation, quality control and an awesome set of colleagues in the region as backup in emergencies.
I’ve lived here in beautiful York for 28 years so far, and been happily married for 21 of those. (The most recent 21, in case you were wondering.)
